29. What recent changes should private aviation buyers pay attention to?

Prioritise dated changes that affect diligence, taxes or contractual access—not unsupported claims about what is trending. Four developments are relevant to the October 2026 procurement checklist:

  • Operator verification: the FAA’s operator-and-aircraft resource, updated 2 September 2026, describes weekly updates and searches by operator or registration. Use it to check the actual carrier and aircraft. (faa.gov)
  • Safety management systems: the FAA lists 28 May 2027 as the implementation deadline for Part 135 operators certificated before 28 May 2024; newer applicants have different timing requirements. Ask which requirement applies and how implementation is progressing, rather than assuming every operator already faces the same deadline. (faa.gov)
  • Assessment standards: ARGUS’s 9 December 2025 newsletter describes an expanded Gold audit standard. Request the applicable standard and assessment date rather than relying on an old explanation of a rating tier. (argus.aero)
  • Programme changes: Wheels Up’s March 2026 annual report states that new membership sales became limited to Signature Membership in January 2026. This illustrates why an older review may describe a different product from the one currently offered to a buyer. (s27.q4cdn.com)
