Liftbrief / Direct questions
9. Is Teterboro or Westchester better for a private flight?
Choose the airport that best supports the complete journey, not a universal winner. Compare the ground destination, planned operating time, aircraft suitability, handling arrangements and an alternate-airport plan.
Airport restrictions need precise wording. The Port Authority’s Teterboro flight-crew handbook describes voluntary restraint of non-essential operations between 23:00 and 06:00 local time; the FAA’s March 2026 Westchester notice describes voluntary restraint from midnight to 06:30. These are not statements that every flight is prohibited during those hours. (panynj.gov)

The cited notices are background, not a dispatch briefing. Require the operator to check current airport information and NOTAMs for the actual flight.
For an assistant, the most useful approval figure is expected door-to-door arrival, with assumptions visible. Avoid publishing a fixed Manhattan transfer time as though traffic, terminal location and destination never change.
