How should buyers use the salary evidence without overinterpreting it?

Use advertised pay as a cross-check on a defined role—not as a tariff for charter services.

The reviewed evidence illustrates several non-comparable categories: ACS explicitly advertises base salary plus commission; Silver Air labels its CJ3 figure simply “compensation”; Zillow separates location-specific base pay from equity eligibility. Combining those figures into one “private aviation salary range” would obscure more than it explains. (jobs.smartrecruiters.com)

Apply these rules:

  • Match scope before pay: captain, flight coordinator and client aviation manager are different jobs.
  • Retain geography: do not flatten location-specific disclosures into a national median.
  • Keep variable pay separate: commission eligibility is not guaranteed earnings.
  • Record the evidence date and vacancy status: expired advertisements remain historical benchmarks.
  • Leave gaps visible: maintenance-controller and concierge salaries were not disclosed in the reviewed employer descriptions. (flexjet.hrmdirect.com)

If a supplier cites labour inflation to justify a renewal increase, request the contractual basis and a like-for-like explanation of the proposed change. This is a recommended commercial review step; the salary evidence here cannot establish what increase is warranted for a particular mission or programme.
