Liftbrief / Readiness quiz
Which issues override a high score?
The following are this desk’s recommended procurement holds, not a claim that every missing document is a legal violation.
| Hold condition | What to pause | What would resolve it? |
|---|---|---|
| Required authority is unverified at the relevant decision point, or the supplier refuses to provide authorisation evidence | Acceptance of the affected flight; any commitment that leaves the buyer unable to reject an unverified operation | Competent verification of the applicable authority and aircraft, or an adequately reviewed conditional arrangement |
| Contracting entity, payment beneficiary or changed bank instructions cannot be verified | Payment | Independent confirmation and documented reconciliation |
| A proposed aircraft or itinerary demonstrably fails a non-negotiable mission requirement | Approval of that option | A suitable alternative or an expressly approved change to the mission |
| A material cost, liability, prepaid-fund or exit exposure remains unexplained or outside delegated authority | The affected booking, deposit or renewal | Written clarification and approval by the appropriate risk owner |
| An immovable deadline depends solely on an empty leg, or no one accepts the consequences of failed recovery | Approval of that travel plan | A feasible alternative, earlier travel or explicit agreement that the mission may not proceed |
The FAA specifically advises consumers to seek another operator if a provider refuses to show the required authorisation. Its guidance also flags arrangements that provide the aircraft and crew while attempting to transfer operational control to the consumer. Escalate such arrangements to aviation counsel rather than trying to solve them through scoring. (faa.gov)
Example: fourteen D answers and an A on operator authority produce 42/45. If the authority hold applies, the result is HOLD, not approval-ready.
A future programme flight need not have an assigned aircraft today. However, the programme decision must establish a credible verification process, and that process must actually be completed at the appropriate pre-flight stage.
